When it comes to technology, especially new technology, there will always be two sides to the argument. Is technology good or bad for us? It is a subjective question because let’s face it, there are both good and bad things about technology.
As a positive thinking person, I only look at the benefits of technology and how technology can actually provide solutions to problems. Over time, I have personally witnessed how fast and vast technology has transformed the business and world landscapes, and it is only natural for me to ride on the wave and venture into the possibilities it offers.
I have constantly flaunted the idea of keeping ourselves abreast with the latest innovation and technology, more so today when we are encouraged to adapt and change the way we work and run businesses. Businesses must show resilience and innovate as we venture into the uncertain future.
This is one of the reasons why the FN Initiative was put in place. I envisioned the FN Initiative to be at the forefront of this future. It is here to specifically assist and elevate businesses from various sectors, locally and globally, to future-proof their mindset and capabilities as we strive together to explore the endless possibilities of tomorrow.
Through my investment arm Puncak Geliga Capital, I have begun to support and promote several startups that share my visions of the future. Not only because they are helmed by some of the brightest minds in the country today, I invest in these companies because they disrupt the normal, tedious processes with simpler, straightforward solutions.
Last week I had the opportunity to drop by at the offices of two of these startups. In Bangi, I met with the great people behind Slurp! Point-of-Sale, a Cloud-based Software-as-a-Service model to enterprises that simplifies operations, streamlines business management and helps businesses grow.
It was an honour to be with the Slurp! team. Listening and watching them work, present their ideas and develop those ideas into innovations have been inspirational. Working together with Silentmode Sdn Bhd, the young and vibrant company behind Slurp! is at the core of the visions of the FN Initiatives in creating hardworking, resilient imminent leaders who can build their career and take ownership of their choices.
A day later I found myself inside the office of Lapasar with the marvelous young people behind this B2B procurement platform that allows companies to purchase supplies for their businesses via a system that acts very much like a ‘add-to-cart and checkout’ service used in B2C marketplaces. Lapasar brings solutions to problems faced by enterprises when buying and selling in large quantities.
Thinesh Kumar, the brainchild behind Lapasar, came up with the idea when he was only 28 years old. In 2017, the team built a beta version for its platform, identified its pain points and proceeded to improve it. By August that same year, the first version on Lapasar went live.
Both these startups began with an idea. They have now flourished into vibrant companies that provide solutions to problems. Slurp! & Lapasar: Bagaimana Idea-Idea Hebat Dijadikan Penyelesaian
Bila berbicara tentang teknologi, khususnya teknologi baharu, sudah pastinya ada dua belah pendapat yang bertentangan. Adakah teknologi itu baik atau buruk kepada kita? Ia adalah soalan yang subjektif memandangkan sebenarnya teknologi memang ada kedua-dua kebaikan dan keburukannya.
Sebagai seorang yang berfikiran positif, saya hanya memandang kepada manfaat teknologi dan bagaimana teknologi boleh menyediakan penyelesaian kepada masalah-masalah. Sepanjang hidup saya, saya telah melihat sendiri bagaimana pantas dan meluasnya teknologi mengubah lanskap dunia dan perniagaan, dan sudah pastinya saya mahu mengambil bahagian dalam perubahan ini dan menerokai peluang-peluang yang ada.
Saya sering kongsi pendapat bahawa kita perlu mendalami inovasi serta teknologi terkini, lebih-lebih lagi hari ini apabila kita digalakkan untuk mengubah dan menyesuaikan diri dengan cara-cara baharu menjalankan perniagaan. Perniagaan perlu menunjukkan daya tahan yang kuat dan berinovasi pada waktu kita menghadapi masa hadapan yang tidak menentu.
Inilah salah satu sebab kenapa saya memulakan Inisiatif FN. Saya berwawasan agar Inisiatif FN berada di baris hadapan masa hadapan ini. Ia ingin membantu dan melonjakkan perniagaan dari pelbagai sektor, sama ada tempatan atau antarabangsa, agar mereka mempunyai daya tahan dalam minda dan keupayaan untuk menghadapi masa hadapan.
Menerusi syarikat pelaburan saya Puncak Geliga Capital, saya telah mula memberi sokongan dan mempromosi beberapa syarikat permulaan yang turut berkongsi wawasan tersebut. Saya melabur ke dalam syarikat-syarikat ini bukan hanya kerana mereka diterajui oleh minda-minda terhebat di Malaysia pada hari ini, tetapi kerana mereka menawarkan “disruption” kepada proses-proses yang panjang dan menyukarkan kepada penyelesaian-penyelesaian yang ringkas dan mudah.
Minggu lepas saya berkesempatan melawat pejabat-pejabat dua daripada syarikat-syarikat tersebut. Di Bangi, saya telah bertemu dengan minda-minda hebat di sebalik Slurp! Point-of-Sale, sebuah platform Software-as-a-Service yang berasaskan Cloud yang membantu syarikat-syarikat mempermudahkan operasi, mengemaskini pengurusan perniagaan dan membantu perniagaan berkembang.
Saya rasa amat teruja dapat bersama pasukan Slurp! Melihat sendiri bagaimana mereka bekerja, mempersembahkan idea-idea dan menjadikan idea-idea tersebut kepada inovasi baharu adalah sangat memberikan inspirasi kepada saya. Bekerjasama dengan Silentmode Sdn Bhd, iaitu syarikat muda di sebalik Slurp! adalah selari dengan wawasan Inisiatif FN dalam mencipta pemimpin-pemimpin hebat dan berdaya tahan yang boleh membina kerjaya mereka sendiri dan mengambil tanggungjawab ke atas pilihan mereka.
Sehari kemudian saya ke pejabat Lapasar pula bertemu dengan anak-anak muda hebat di sebalik platform perolehan B2B yang membolehkan syarikat-syarikat membeli bekalan perniagaan menerusi sebuah sistem yang bertindak seperti khidmat ‘add-to-cart and checkout’ yang digunakan dalam pasaran B2C. Lapasar menyediakan penyelesaian kepada masalah-masalah yang dihadapi oleh syarikat-syarikat ketika membeli bekalan dalam jumlah yang besar.
Thineh Kumar, genius di sebalik Lapasar, mendapat idea ini sewaktu beliau hanya berumur 28 tahun. Pada 2017, pasukan ini telah membina sebuah versi beta untuk platform ini, mengenalpasti masalah-masalah dan terus memperbaikinya. Pada bulan Ogos tahun yang sama, versi pertama Lapasar telah dilancarkan.
Kedua-dua syarikat permulaan ini bermula hanya dengan idea. Kini mereka telah mengembangkan perniagaan mereka dan menyediakan penyelesaian-penyelesaian kepada masalah-masalah. Jika diberi masa dan dorongan, saya percaya syarikat-syarikat ini akan terus mencipta pelbagai inovasi baharu.
