While the FN Initiative is the embodiment of visions, ideas, and hopes with its three tenets of investing in collaborations/partnerships, social entrepreneurship, and individual/collective growth, we also believe in community investment aimed at positively impacting the communities, especially now with many of us affected by the health and economic effects of COVID-19. We realise the ongoing Movement Control Order in multiple phases has left the people in desperate need of assistance, especially those living in rural areas.
We began our community investment earlier this year when #TeamFN – a group of young and dynamic volunteers – kicked off the FN Initiative’s efforts with collaborations with Dapur Jalanan KL, a soup kitchen volunteer group in the capital city, and later we went on to Perak, Kelantan, and Terengganu to deliver cash assistance and daily goods to rural families and schools.
There is so much more that we had planned to do, but with the ongoing spike in new daily COVID-19 cases as well as the Full Movement Control Order being enforced, we were unable to do so. #TeamFN managed to hand out meals for the homeless in three locations around the city prior to the FMCO.
However, our teams in Perak and Kelantan began organising food drive campaigns, in collaboration with Soul Cook Cafe in Ipoh, Perak, and the community in Machang, Kelantan.
In Ipoh, we collaborated with Persatuan Kebajikan Orang-Orang Islam Tambun to distribute food packs to those in need in these challenging times.
The Ipoh Food Drive is ongoing and will end on 16th July, local communities are invited to come and receive food packs prepared by the cafe. Soul Cook Cafe is located at Persiaran Klebang Putra, Pusat Perdagangan Klebang.
In Machang, Kelantan, we provide foodstuff to those in need and they can come to collect the pre-packed daily food necessities at Stesen Minyak Shell Bandar Machang from 5th July to 12th July. Look out for the #FNInitiative banner at the station.
We also provide the same pre-packed daily food necessities for the community in Cameron Highlands. You can come to Masjid Abu Bakar in Tanah Rata to get assistance.
#TeamFN also went door to door in Kuala Krai, Kelantan to personally deliver this assistance. I would like to thank all involved in this campaign, especially our teams in Perak and Kelantan for their selfless commitment to help out the communities. There have also been kind individuals who have reached out to me and lent their support and donations to augment our efforts. On behalf of #TeamFN, I thank you very much for your support and spirit of togetherness.
